When managing community data from multiple organizations about children, data privacy concerns are paramount. Here are three ways to think about data sharing to frame your community's plan for using data to support the success of the children you serve.
This past Saturday I had the opportunity to be part of the Glasses for Kids Program offered by the Flaum Eye Institute and work with them on a trial phase use of the COMET database. I went into the morning not knowing what to expect; my only understanding of the program was the notes that I had taken at our monthly meetings and the setup that we'd done internally for their database. I must say, I was completely blown away! The program was a well-oiled machine, from the in-take services to the vision screening, ultimately resulting in children being fitted for their own pair of glasses.
As a new year approaches, it's a good time to reflect and plan. We asked COMET staff what they hope to accomplish in 2018. We asked for big, lofty goals, or small things like 'keep my email inbox organized'. Here's what they said:
COMET security is a critical component of our services – providing continuous system access while protecting customer data. The most stringent technologies, protocols and practices are used in our product development. This blog post focuses on login authentication.
With summer coming into full swing, it’s time for students to find new activities to fill up their time.
Here at COMET, where the success of children is the center of our mission, the summer is no exception. Lots of programs work to prevent summer learning loss and keep students growing year round and use our software to support their work. And summer can be such a special time - instead of the full demands of the school year schedule, children and youth can strengthen a particular asset or passion, or use the time to develop a new set of skills.
There is nothing quite like springtime in upstate New York.
It’s mid-April, the sun is shining, the grass is greening and the flowers are budding. It is a time where people are filled with energy to “get out there” and confront obstacles and make the changes they know they need to do. It’s the Season of Renewal.
Our monthly newsletter, "COMET Kindred Spirits" provides resources, best practices and information on new features to those who share COMET's passion for using data to make a difference. Keep up to date with the latest and greatest in the world of data and COMET.
